Kratom is a tropical evergreen tree (Mitragyna speciosa) native to Southeast Asia, primarily found in countries like Thailand, Malaysia, Indonesia, and Papua New Guinea. Its leaves have been traditionally used for centuries by indigenous populations in those regions for their medicinal and recreational properties.

The active compounds in kratom leaves are mitragynine and 7-hydroxymitragynine, which interact with opioid receptors in the brain. This leads to pain relief, sedation, and a sense of well-being, making it similar to opioids in some ways. As a result, kratom has been used to manage chronic pain, reduce opioid withdrawal symptoms, and improve mood.

In Western countries, kratom has gained popularity as an herbal supplement and recreational drug. It is typically sold as a powder, capsule, or extract. However, its use has also been controversial due to potential side effects and the risk of dependence and addiction. Some of the side effects associated with kratom use include nausea, constipation, drowsiness, dizziness, and increased heart rate.

Additionally, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has expressed concerns about kratom's safety and its potential for abuse. In some countries, kratom is banned or controlled, while in others, it is legal but subject to regulations.

If you are considering using kratom for any reason, it's essential to consult with a healthcare professional to understand its potential risks and benefits and to ensure it won't interact with any medications you may be taking. Always be cautious about using any herbal supplement or substance without proper medical guidance.

Our cacao comes from Southern Mexico, it is a high quality criollo type with 10-12% of cocoa butter.
